A girl who was injured in the Moot when after a bizarre chase with a weed eater will return to the hospital for more surgery this week.
The girl (13) was on her way to a nearby shop with some friends when she was knocked down by a motorcycle after a municipal worker with a weed eater chased her into the street.
The girl’s nose will be operated on on Wednesday, a family friend Jenni Wilson said on behalf of the girl’s family.
“We feel very positive that she will have a speedy recovery,” Wilson said.
The incident happened on the corner of Nico Smith Street and 29th Avenue on Saturday, 11 November.
The girl and a friend were walking to a nearby café when they saw three municipal workers cutting grass.
The girls asked them to move so that they could walk past, but the workers just looked at them and laughed.

They wanted to avoid walking in the road so they asked the workers again, but they laughed at them a second time.
Wilson said the two friends decided to walk around on the other side instead.
“When they got to the other side, one of the municipal workers chased them with a weed eater,” she said.
“The girl was chased into the street, where she got knocked down by a motorcycle.”
Her nose was broken and she suffered bruises in the collision.
The metro said at the time they will be conducting an internal investigation parallel to the criminal case.
The investigation from the police’s side was complete, said Villieria police spokesperson Captain Coba Brits.
“The docket will now be handed over to the senior prosecutor,” she said.
Three ward councillors from Pretoria also supported the family throughout the ordeal.

Ward 52 councillor Frans Smith said he immediately showed the family his support as soon as he heard what had happened.
PR 30 and 31 ward councillor Bruce Lee said he helped the family with legal advice.
“The action of the municipal workers was completely unacceptable. I hope that the law will take its course and that the guilty will be punished,” he said.
Ward 1 councillor, Elma Nel said she immediately informed the necessary people.
