A Pretoria East college achieved an impressive 99 percent pass rate in the 2017 matric exams.
Seventy-six learners at Abbotts College managed 69 distinctions, 46 bachelor’s degree passes and 24 diploma passes.
Top achievers at the college included Jacques Roux, who obtained an impressive four distinctions in history, life orientation, design and visual art with an average 86.9 percent.
Michelle Joaquim obtained five distinctions in economics, business studies, history, life orientation and Portuguese, averaging 86.5 percent.
Anastasia Davydova bagged four distinctions in economics, business studies, life orientation and Afrikaans with an average of 83.4 percent.
Principal Anthony Jansen van Rensburg said he was proud of the 2017 class and its marks.

“We are proud that we could not only provide our students with a solid matric result but also a life-changing opportunity,” he said.
Abbotts also has three teachers who will be receiving certificates for best performing subjects in Gauteng North at the provincial awards ceremony on Thursday, 25 January.
“We hope to be announced as the top independent school for Gauteng North,” said Jansen van Rensburg.
