The Independent Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) urges citizens to visit their voting stations during the weekend of 10 and 11 March as part of the national campaign to update the voters’ roll in preparation for the 2019 elections.

The Independent Electoral Commission of SA (IEC) has called on all eligible voters to update the voter’s roll ahead of next year’s general elections.

IEC urged all citizens to visit the over 22 000 voting stations throughout the country between 08:00 until 17:00 on 10 and 11 March to update the voters’ roll in preparation for the 2019 elections.

It said in a statement voters should visit “to check and confirm their addresses on the voters’ roll or to register as new voters.

“Voters who registered but have moved since they last voted must go to re-register in their correct voting district. Voting stations will be staffed by over 73 000 election officials,” the IEC said.

To check your voting station call 0800-11-8000 or maps.elections.org.za/vsfinder/ or if you are already registered, SMS your ID number to 32810 for an automatic reply of your current voting station. SMS’s are charged at R1.

Voters are reminded to take along their green barcoded ID book, smart ID or valid temporary ID certificate.

Proof of residence is not required.
