Metro pilots service app

“When fully operational it will allow for participation in a range of matters such as petitions, policies and bylaws, meetings and relevant information.”

Tshwane metro has developed a mobile application to improve communication with residents.

The app will promote and improve ways the community communicates with the city on governance including policy development, bylaws, events and service delivery.

The application is available on Google Play store and is currently being piloted by the city.

Mayoral spokesperson Samkelo Mgobozi the app would enable the city to send service interruption alerts and other information it wished to share with residents.

Mgobozi said since the app required users to register their ward, this would allow the city to monitor how many people had reported a similar problem in each geographical area then prioritise and respond timeously to problems that affect a mass of people.

Mgobozi said this was an initiative of the Department of Public Service and Administration and the city to modernise public participation to improve service delivery.

“When fully operational the app will allow for participation in a range of matters such as petitions, policies and bylaws, meetings and relevant information,” said Mgobozi.
