Pta woman living her second dream
Miranda Boshoff tells us of her jet-setting life as an international model scout.
A Pretoria woman was living her dream – until an unexpected opportunity led her onto a completely different career path.
Fifteen years ago, Miranda Boshoff – who was raised in Queenswood and Erasmusrand – was an accomplished accountant.
“Everything I had dreamt of since I was a little girl,” she said.
Then, an opportunity to become an international model scout presented itself and Miranda Boshoff grabbed it with both hands.
Boshoff sat down with Rekord recently to tell us about her glamorous jet-setting life.
“I was an A-student who wanted to pursue business, but fashion has always been my passion,” Boshoff said.

After building a network of international contacts, she ditched her office job and became a full-time international editor, scout and chief operations officer at Nuovo model management.
“I missed the routine at first, but what I do now is much more fulfilling,” she said.
Although she took a leap of faith, she was never too far out into the deep end as she had worked as a freelancer for the company for 12 years.
Boshoff prides herself for helping underprivileged aspiring models and launching them on the international fashion scene of Milan and Rome.
“These places are the most difficult to work in in the industry, especially because South Africa is not on par. If you can’t make it in Milan, you can’t make it anywhere.”
Boshoff said she was proud of her models.
The 57-year-old said she trained the models tirelessly; motivated and advised them what to expect overseas; as well as, warned them of industry vices drugs, alcohol and eating disorders.
“Some days I Google a lot; other days, I’m sorting travel logistics and on others; I’m juggling workshops, motivational talks and seminars,” Boshoff explained.
“There’s absolutely no routine, my days depend on the client’s requirements.”
Juggling a busy schedule and international travel is no easy task and Boshoff credited her support staff.

Apart from helping aspiring models achieve their dreams, Boshoff also hopes to fulfill her dream of meeting fashion designer Valentino.
