UPDATE: Future City libraries to feature study centres
"It is only applicable to libraries that are designed in a way that separates the main library and the study section. The study section can be accessed without entering the main library."
The City’s libraries will, in future, feature study facilities which will operate for extended hours to accommodate their users.
“The City of Tshwane’s future designs for libraries will accommodate separate study facilities. This will ensure that the study facilities can be accessed for extended hours,” spokesperson Lindela Mashigo said.
However, library users making use of existing libraries with study facilities have benefitted from extended operating hours for a few years already.
“The service has been implemented in the past three years already,” Mashigo said.
Multiple study centres at the City’s libraries are currently opened to users from 08:00 to 22:00 on weekdays and from 08:00 to 16:00 on weekends.
Mashigo explained that some of the contributory factors to the opening of the study facilities was safety, a controlled entrance and exit without thoroughfare into the main library.
“It is only applicable to libraries that are designed in a way that separates the main library and the study section. The study section can be accessed without entering the main library,” he said.
These library study centres, per region, include:
Region 1
