UPDATE: Workers welcomed back into Poyntons Building

The Department of Justice has been allowed back into the building again.

The Tshwane metro lifted the probation notice at Poyntons building on Wednesday.

Mayor Solly Msimanga said he was happy to report that the Department of Justice and Correctional Services, which reported to Minister Micheal Masutha, had implemented the minimum safety measures at the building as required.

The metro said public servants who occupied the Poyntons Building were allowed back into from 17 September.

Msimanga’s spokesperson Samkelo Mgobozi said the Emergency Services Department met with the representative of the owner and the occupants to find a way of resolving the contraventions.

Msimanga made the decision to shut the building down following a declaration the building was “unsafe”.

Workers at the building were told to immediately evacuate the building.
