Last year, the project covered Wolmer for the first time and Danville for the second time.

Rekord previously reported that the routes were based on requests from residents.

On every route, there will be stopping points where children can spend time with Father Christmas.

Children will receive packages consisting of sweets and a Bible.

This year the organising committee has included a visit to the elderly.

Local CPF chairperson Noekie Salmon said supporters in a convoy of cars aimed to hand out 20 000 packages, of which 5 000 were for the elderly.

The budget for this year’s project was R100 000 and the project was run by volunteers, residents and other role-players in the community.

One of the main reasons the project would kick off earlier this year was to ensure that the areas were quiet on Christmas and Christmas’s Eve.

Previously, Rekord reported that while the project’s organisers took everything into consideration, residents should also be aware that the sirens and noise were part of the Christmas project.
