NEWSFLASH: Metro police officer killed on duty
“The department is greatly saddened by and mourns this loss. May the soul of the fallen soldier rest in peace. He will be sorely missed.”
The death of a Tshwane metro police officer on Sunday evening has left the department in shock.
Metro police spokesperson Senior Superintendent Isaac Mahamba said the TMPD was in great shock over the death of the officer in a vehicle accident.

Mahamba said the officer was on duty on his motorbike on the Mabopane highway when he was involved in a collision around 17:00.
Mahamba said the officer was rushed to the nearest hospital, however, he later passed on.
“His identity will be released as soon as we are certain his family has been informed properly.
“The department is greatly saddened by and mourns this loss. May the soul of the fallen soldier rest in peace. He will be sorely missed,” said Mahamba.
He said the metro department sent “sincere condolences to his family, friends and colleagues”.

Details for a memorial service will be communicated soon, he said.
Mahamba said a case of culpable homicide was opened and police were investigating.
