Police launched successful anti-crime operations last week that led to several arrests in Sunnyside.
Police spokesperson Captain Daniel Mavimbela said two suspected stolen vehicles were recovered.
“A Mercedes Benz and a VW Polo, believed to have been taken from lawful owners in Pretoria Central and Garsfontein respectively, were recovered,” said Mavimbela.
He said police also arrested a 29-year-old alleged false prophet who had reportedly swindled about R116 000 from a victim through promises of doubling that cash.
“It is believed the victim was made to drive to Marble Hall to withdraw the money from his bank account.”
Mavimbela said three suspects were caught for reportedly breaking into and stealing from motor vehicles, while another was jailed following an alleged attempt to hijack a motor vehicle.
Mavimbela said Sunnyside police were also fighting crime on the street more than ever as street robbers were not spared either.

“Four men have already been hauled before the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court following separate attacks on pedestrians.”
He said by Friday morning, police had arrested a further 22 suspects and some were incarcerated for offences like drunk driving, dealing in dagga and shoplifting.
“We want to warn liquor traders across the board that lawlessness will not be tolerated in Sunnyside.”
Police destroyed alcohol worth hundreds of thousands of rands seized from two nightclubs that had operated beyond their normal closing times.
He said the Sunnyside police were now set to join hands with other law enforcement agencies and continue on a warpath against unlawfulness in the area.
Mavimbela said he urged residents to heighten their level of activism and report suspicious or criminal activities anonymously on the Crime Stop Hotline at 08600-10111 or through the Crime Line SMS at 32211.
