Two pedestrians were arrested at the corner of Jean and Lenchen avenues in Lyttelton on Friday morning for being a “source of danger”.
The police had received a complaint that pedestrians were harassing motorists, Lyttelton police spokesperson Captain Dave Miller said.
“Our members secured the arrest of the two men following a brief chase through the nearby streets,” Miller said.

“The two were taken to the Lyttelton police station and fined.
“We arrested two more suspects at other intersections in the area on similar charges.”
Last week Miller said the police were patrolling Centurion intersections following reports that pedestrians were harassing motorists.
Though smash-and-grabs had not resulted from the practice, Miller suggested a few safety tips in such situations including making sure motorists were aware of their immediate surroundings.
“If you do feel threatened but your life is not in imminent danger, try to get a description of the suspect,” said Miller.

“This includes his weight, height and clothing.
“Report this to your nearest police station and police will investigate.”
