The Rietgat police arrested more than 50 people for various crimes at the weekend.
Rietgat police station commander Brigadier Ramakamakama Kekana said the arrests were for assault, possession of drugs, theft, driving without driver’s licence, business robbery, contravention of a protection order, pointing a firearm, resisting arrest, rape, burglary at residential premises and drinking in public.
He commended his colleagues for ensuring wanted suspects and other wrongdoers were apprehended and charged.
He also thanked the community for their continued support in informing the police about the criminal activities and the whereabouts of wanted suspects in the precinct.
All 57 arrested suspects were due to appear in the Soshanguve magistrate’s court soon.
