Tshwane police have increased visibility in various areas of across Tshwane in operation “O kae molao”, aimed at creating a safer inner city.
Central police spokeswoman Captain Augustinah Selepe said high-density police patrols in the inner city were held to distract criminals from their planned criminal activities in areas such as Brooklyn, Pretoria Central, Pretoria West, Pretoria Moot and Sunnyside.

She said in Pretoria Central, police arrested 11 suspects for drug-related crimes and one suspect aged 28, was found in possession of illegal ammunition.
“The operation in Pretoria further yielded more success when fines to the value of R3 000 for contravening liquor act were issued and six for pedestrian source of danger,” Selepe said.
Selepe said three suspects were also arrested as they were wanted and linked to various crimes committed within Tshwane precinct.
“A male aged 29, was linked to various crimes committed in Sunnyside such as housebreaking, theft, theft out motor vehicle and attempted theft out motor vehicle.
“The second suspect arrested in Pretoria Central was linked to a Pretoria West case of housebreaking and theft.”
She said the third suspect was linked to multiple house break-ins in Wierdabrug.
Selepe said the operation also included roadblocks where eight fines were issued to the value of R5 750 in Brooklyn.

She said 113 vehicles were searched at the roadblock, 129 people searched and six vehicles tested.
“The operation also saw premises raided in Pretoria West where eight fines valued at R8 000 were issued for contravening the second hands goods act.”
She said no stones were left unturned as Sunnyside school learners were searched.
“We also searched 223 learners but nothing was found.”
Selepe said: “The main idea of these operations is to deterrent (sic) crime and improve the quality of life and personal safety of all people in the city of Tshwane so that they can feel safe and secure when walking, shopping and driving in the city.”
All suspects were expected to appear in court soon.
