A 28-year-old man was arrested this week on several charges in Capital Park.
Wonderboompoort police spokesperson Constable Mandlakayise Zwane said the arrest was made on Sunday after police received a tip-off from residents.
“They informed us of a suspicious man on the corner of Steve Biko Road and Trouw Street,” he said.
“Upon arrival, the man had locked himself in his room and refused to open for the police.”
He said the police had to use force to enter the apartment.

“Inside the apartment we found a big bag with live ammunition,” he said.
“We asked him if he owned a firearm licence and he said no. It is illegal to own ammunition if you do not have a firearm licence.”
Zwane said upon searching the apartment further, police found drugs, such as crystal meth (commonly used to make drugs) and ivory.
“The man could not explain how he had everything in his possession,” he said.
He said the man would be charged with being in the possession of an unlicensed firearm, drugs and ivory.
He will appear in the Pretoria magistrate’s court soon.
Zwane said after further investigation, the police discovered that the man was previously arrested in 2008 by Wonderboompoort for being in possession of illegal explosives.

In 2013 he was arrested in Pretoria Central for being in possession of suspected stolen property.
“It would seem that this man is a serious offender, but we await the court proceedings,” he said.
He said the police were also conducting further investigations to see how he obtained the items in his possession.
“The police continue to urge residents to work closely with the police. Should they see anything suspicious, they should report it to us immediately,” he said.
“We can only be effective if we are guided and supported by the community.”
