Volunteers spruce up east school
Mamelodi east learners kick off 3rd semester in spiffy clean school.
Learners of Bajabulile Primary School in Mamelodi East Extension 4 kicked off their school’s third term in a clean and healthy school recently.
This after two clothing companies, Black Lives clothes and Ganja Clothing, held their third clean-up campaign at the school the day before.
“The clean-up campaign is part of our community social responsibility which started two years ago,” said organisers Masego Deembule and Fortune Zondo.
Masego said the clean-up is held annually.

“We visit several schools in Mamelodi,” said Deembule.
The more than 50 volunteers for the clean-up included 2018/19 Miss Mamelodi Sundowns Faith Nonynane and Mamelodi Sundowns supporter coordinator Daisy Kgopa.
The volunteers cleaned up the school yard, painted the school’s science lab, painted the assembly hall in addition to cleaning toilets and floors.
Masego said they wanted the learners to study in a healthy environment.
“I am proud of what the young people here are doing for the school,” said Zondo.
“I hope the community will learn something from the two organisations.”
Zondo said the clean-up formed part of Youth month.
The clean-up started at 09:00 in the morning and lasted until late in the afternoon.

Kgope said children are the “top priority”.
“We want the learners to learn in a healthy environment and, most importantly, not to litter.”
“As Mamelodi Sundowns we always give back to the community by bringing the legends and Sundowns players to the school to motivate them to do something with their lives.”
“We also encourage them to stay away off streets and participate in various sports activities as well as support them during the school sports day,” said Kgopa.
The clean-up ended with a motivational talk to encourage other youth members to also give something back to the community.
The materials used to clean up and paint the school were sponsored by the two clothing companies as well as other businesses that supported the initiative.
