TV crew attempted mugging in the north backfires

Two suspects managed to flee the scene in their black Polo leaving their accomplice behind.

An alleged robber was shot and killed last Friday after he and two accomplices tried to rob a television crew at a recreation park in Ga-Rankuwa zone 1 last Friday.

“The crew was filming an episode of a house renovating program when the attempted robbery took place,” said police spokesperson Captain Matthews Nkoadi.

The crew was approached by the man while his two accomplices remained in their car, a black Volkswagen Polo.

The suspect allegedly opened fire at the crew.

“One of the crew members took out his firearm and managed to shoot their alleged attacker,” said Nkoadi.

The wounded robber tried to flee the scene, but fell to the ground.

He was apprehended by police.

According to Nkoadi, the robber shot one of the crew members twice.

Both the man and the wounded crew member were taken to different hospitals.

On arrival at the hospital, the alleged attacker succumbed to his injuries. The crew member is recovering.

The other two suspects managed to flee the scene in their vehicle, leaving their accomplice behind.
