No buses will run in Tshwane tomorrow

The City of Tshwane’s public transport will come to a standstill as employees of the Tshwane Bus Service march for pay increases.

Councillor Lenise Breytenbach of Pretoria North has confirmed there will be no bus service on 29 July due to planned strike.

Breytenbach said both Councillor Sheila Senkubuge, MMC for Roads & Transport and Karel Meyer, MMC of Community Safety have confirmed the planned strike.

“Tshwane Bus Services (TBS) passengers are advised of the possible service interruptions tomorrow due to a planned march. You are advised to make alternative means of transport and sincerely apologize in advanced,” Senkubuge confirmed to Breytenbach.

Samwu (South African Municipal Workers’ Union) has instructed all the employees to gather at Tshwane House on Monday morning until everybody is paid. All buildings will be closed. They have instructed the members to guard all the City buildings from 7:00 so nobody gains entry. They make sure no bus or Tshwane vehicle is on the road. Basically they are shutting down everything.
