Sinoville saps visit north schools for awareness
A total of 33 schools were visited by Sinoville police for their 5th annual Child Protection Awareness Project.
Members of the Sinoville police station embarked on a mission to inspire and inform during their annual Child Protection Awareness Project earlier this month.
They visited preschools and 11 other schools in the area this year.
The project kicked off in May when 22 preschools were visited.
From 15 to 19 July police visited eight state schools, two private schools and one special needs school.
“Personal safety is discussed with the toddlers and all the police equipment is shown to the children. The little ones actively took part and shared their own stories and ideas on how thieves look – and they seemed to have a few good answers,” Sinoville spokesperson, warrant officer Johan van Dyk said.

The preschools took part in a colouring-in competition and the winners of each school was awarded a prize to eat at Villa San Chivani at the airport.
Just Imagine Properties also provided prizes and photos for the winners.
In July the police joined forces with Willem Engelbrecht of BTG-every heroes (Be that Guy/Girl) who gave motivational talks.
“We addressed bullying, as well as social media and personal safety, was discussed during the operation.”
Willem Engelbrecht made a grand entrance with a powered flight helicopter, landing on the school’s sports field.
Children were entertained with colour smoke grenades.
“It was a great opportunity for the children and it was made extraordinary by the whole community,” he said.
For the past five years the Sinoville police, Sinoville CPF, Sinoville Crisis Centre, Powered Flight, Just Imagine Properties and Villa San Chivani have joined hands to make the project possible.
“We would also like to thank Willem Engelbrecht for his support in this project,” he added.
