Locals urged to join the Hercules CPF

The CPF is established in partnership between police and the communities they serve.

The Hercules CPF has urged residents to become involved and join them.

The CPF is established in partnership between police and the communities they serve.

“You can get involved with the CPF by volunteering your time, attending community meetings and reporting suspicious behaviour,” said spokesperson Ricky Louw.

“Even though the CPF members are the eyes and ears of the police in the community, you don’t have to put yourself in danger to become involved.”

“Appropriate training and guidance are offered and members work closely with security companies and police in the area,” she said.

To join the CPF you must be 18 years old, a South African citizen and not have a criminal record.

“It is preferable that you reside, own property or a business in the sector’s area,” she said.

“Joining the CPF is free of charge.”

The CPF offers various community projects as well as regular patrolling in the area to make it a safer place for all.

They are also actively involved in the community and host regular projects to help uplift the area.

She said one of the next following events on their diary was a meeting by the Tshwane district commissioner Major-General Daniel Mthombeni.

“Anyone who has an interest in combating crime is welcome to attend the meeting,” she said.

Louw said the meeting would take place on 21 August, at Y di Dorp Yt in Pretoria Street.

“This is in the interest of the whole community,” she said.

She said another project was a support programme against women and child abuse.

This will be held at Mayville mall on 31 August.

Louw also shared some of her CPF’s successes with Rekord.

Earlier in July, the group helped deliver a baby in the middle of the road.

“The mom was a passenger in a taxi when she went into labour,” she said.

“The taxi driver simply stopped right there and dropped her off next to the side of the road.”

Fortunately, sector 4 CPF member Edna van Vuuren and a team rushed to the scene after receiving an emergency call.
