Car thief suspect held in Centurion
The man’s vehicle was searched and two jamming devices were found inside.

Lyttelton police arrested a suspected car thief in Doringkloof on Tuesday morning.
The man was arrested after police allegedly found jamming devices and false number plates in his vehicle, according to Lyttelton police spokesperson Captain Dave Miller.
Miller said police received information about the man in a white VW Polo which was linked to previous cases of theft out of motor vehicles in the area.
“The man was spotted entering Doringkloof on Tuesday morning,” he said.
“Our roving team immediately sprang into action and started looking for him.
“He was later found near the Doringkloof Primary School. His vehicle was searched and two jamming devices were found inside.

“Police also found he was using false registration plates on the Polo and the originals were being kept behind his seat,” Miller said.
“The jamming devices are used to remotely jam locking mechanisms to gain access to motor vehicles.”
The man was arrested on charges of possession of car breaking implements, possession of suspected stolen property and fraud.
“He will appear in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court later in the week.”

Lyttelton police station commander Brigadier TP Matlala welcomed the arrest and praised the members for their hard work and dedication.
“The police will not allow the criminals to come into our areas, thinking they can do whatever they want.
“We will do what is necessary to make sure our streets are safe and free of criminals.”
