Two men arrested in connection with the murder of a north pensioner appeared in court on Monday.
The suspects, aged 20 and 30, appeared before the Ga-Rankuwa Magistrate’s Court where the matter was postponed to Friday for further investigation, said police spokesperson Captain Matthews Nkoadi.
“The pensioner was followed home from the mall after he had withdrawn a large sum of money last week,” he said.

The 63-year-old was found murdered in his Ga-Rankuwa home on Tuesday morning.
“Cellphones and other valuable items were stolen.”
Nkoadi said the men were arrested shortly after the incident.
Police warn ATM users to always check who might be close by when withdrawing money at shopping centres and malls.
Nkoadi earlier said although police were working with security guards in malls, shoppers should be vigilant when leaving ATMs because they might be followed and robbed of their cash on their way home.

“People who withdraw money should always alert the security guards or police if they feel that someone may be following them,” he said.
“A number of cases have been reported lately, where people were robbed of thousands of rands.”
Nkoadi said the suspects roam around malls and ATMs while keeping an eye on ATM users.
“A lot of victims are usually the ones who withdraw thousands. We have not heard any cases where a person was robbed of R1 000 or less,” he said.
