Metro police to probe speeding on Centurion road
We will do speed enforcement to determine if these accidents are caused by speeding.
Tshwane metro police said it would investigate whether speeding is behind a spate of accidents on Ruimte Road in Centurion.
“We are aware of the recent increased number of accidents on the route between Saxby Avenue and Old Johannesburg Road,” said spokesperson Senior Superintendent Isaac Mahamba.
“We will do speed enforcement to determine whether these accidents have been caused by motorists speeding or not.”
“We are committed to law enforcement in all parts of the metro to reduce accidents – no exception.”

Mahamba said his officers were deployed in the area and would continue to monitor it.
“We are determined to serve the citizens of this city with dignity and pride.”
Locals had previously raised concerns about the high number of accidents on Ruimte Road.
Community medical service CERT-SA spokesperson Ruan Heyns said the latest had taken place at around 03:00 last Friday when a bakkie, which ended up on its roof after it had rolled.

“A man and woman [both occupants] sustained minor injuries,” he said.
“Once they had been stabilised, they were transported to a nearby hospital.”
“The cause of the accident is unknown at this stage.”
