Villeria woman arrested for ‘killing’ ex-boyfriend

The arrest was made as part of operation O Kae Molao.

The Tshwane central district police arrested 446 suspects across Pretoria over the weekend, including a 29-year-old woman who allegedly killed a man believed to be her ex-boyfriend.

The woman is believed to have attacked the man at a tavern in Villeria, following an altercation in the early hours of Saturday morning.

“Information suggests that the victim had been stabbed with an object on the upper body,” said police spokesperson Captain Daniel Mavimbela.

More than fifty percent of the arrests were made in Pretoria Central, Atteridgeville, Sunnyside, Hammanskraal and Bronkhorstspruit.

The suspects will be charged with selling liquor without a licence, drunken driving, assault under the Domestic Violence Act, possession of drugs and sexual assault.

“The suspects were caught during roadblocks, sting operations and high-density patrols for offences ranging from malicious damage to property, theft out of motor vehicle, burglary and possession of suspected stolen motor vehicle,” Mavimbela added.

District commander Major General Daniel Mthombeni urged officers to intensify operations that will address the scourge of substance abuse, “which is believed to be the main contributor towards gender-based violence and other contact crimes like robbery, rape and murder”.

All the arrested suspects are expected to appear in courts across the Tshwane district soon.
