Mabopane school urges parents to support their children

Patrick Moloto Primary School in Mabopane Block E held its first annual awards ceremony for best performers.

Parents should support and encourage their children to study, a principal has said.

Patrick Moloto Primary School principal Madumetja Molekoa said this to parents during the first award ceremony for best achievers in sports and academics at the school recently.

Molekoa said parents had the responsibility to be present in all the stages of their children’s lives, despite challenges that they might be facing.

He invited parents to witness the beauty of seeing their children being awarded for their hard work and perseverance.

“We are proud to host our first of many award ceremonies. We are building a better future for our learners,” said Molekoa.

“As a parent, it is your duty to pay attention to your child’s performance. Parents should be involved in their children’s learning circle and support them despite challenges and problems that are faced at home,” said Molekoa.

District circuit manager, Sobara Moatshe, said the school was considered one of the best in the area.

“Pupils from this primary school usually win regional competitions and are regarded as one of the top performers in the district,” said Moatshe.

Moatshe added that parents must support their children, “as this will have a lasting impression on them”.

“A child will never forget that their parent was present on this day to see them receive their respective awards,” said Moatshe.

Parent, Tseko Dlamini commended the school for initiating the annual award ceremony.

“As a parent, I am truly proud as I witness my daughter’s achievements. The school is doing very well in ensuring great success in her academics,” said Dlamini.
