Become involved with Centurion CPF – police

Lyttelton police have urged residents in the area to get involved with their local CPF.

Lyttelton police have urged residents in the area to get involved with their local CPF.

“The local CPF is a direct link between the community and the police,” said police spokesperson Captain Dave Miller.

“When there are certain crime tendencies in the area and the public need to be made aware the police will inform them through structures like the CPF.

“You might not be aware of these crimes until the CPF warn you.”

Miller said residents could also inform their local CPF if there were any suspicious activities in the area.

“We find many residents are only calling their security companies,” he said.

“And while we don’t discourage this, it is always better to inform the police and local CPF as well.

“If you see a suspicious vehicle, police will be able to verify the details of that vehicle,” he added.

“Police can be made alert to be on the lookout for suspicious activities in the area.”

Miller said residents often knew their neighbours and were able to spot suspicious activity in the area.

“We would also like to remind residents to take safety measures at their homes, including ensuring their driveways were properly lit and there were no bushes growing in their yards.

“By preventing this you can take steps to make your home safer.”

Miller urged car and bakkie owners especially to check their spare tyres on a regular basis.

“We often get complaints of spare wheels being stolen but only when the cars are taken to be serviced,” he said.

“If you check your vehicle’s spare tyre on a regular basis you will see when it is stolen and it can be reported to police.

“This will go a long way to ensuring police can pick up on trends and know where the hotspots are.”
