WEATHER: Cold weather to hit Pta on Thursday night

A 30% chance of rain can be expected on Thursday night.

Cold and cloudy weather was set to creep into Pretoria in the late hours of Thursday evening, with an unexpected cold weekend ahead.

“We can confirm that the cold weather that lies ahead for the weekend is definitely not a cold front, but some snow will be falling on the Drakensberg in KZN that will result in some cooler weather that will spread to Gauteng from Thursday night,” said SA weather service forecaster Wayne Venter.

The temperatures will continue to decrease over the coming days, with a 30% chance of rain on Thursday night already.

Friday will see a cool minimum of 10°C in the morning but will warm up to 22°C. A 30% chance of thundershowers can be expected in the late afternoon.

Saturday will start off with a chilly 7°C and climb up to 23°C.

Sunday will have the coldest start of the weekend with 5°C and a maximum of 23°C later in the day.

“Temperatures are expected to get back to normal by Monday. Although cool, people can expect to see mainly cloudy skies for the rest of the weekend,” Venter said.
