Tshwane bus service back on road

A Re Yeng and Tshwane municipal buses were fully operational on Thursday.

The Tshwane metro has announced that its bus service was fully operational on Thursday.

Tshwane MMC for roads and transport Sheila Senkubuge said A Re Yeng and TBS buses are back on the road and operating normally.

She said the city acknowledged the heroic efforts by taxi drivers to fight the drug scourge, however, “regrettably the modus operandi was not the best as it allowed criminal elements to creep into the revolt, resulting in individual members of the public using this as a platform for xenophobic attacks”.

Senkubuge and the leadership of the taxi industry apologised to the residents and commuters for the inconvenience that was caused during the suspension of service.

She apologised to affected foreign nationals and thanked the taxi industry for allowing the city to engage with them.

She also affirmed to residents that “the city of Tshwane is back to normal”.
