Car catches fire on north highway
The driver of the vehicle told them that he saw a fire in the engine while driving.

A vehicle caught fire in the north of Pretoria on Saturday.
The incident happened on the R80 Mabopane Highway north after 10:00.
According to Tshwane emergency services spokesperson Charles Mabaso, the driver told them that he noticed a fire in the engine while driving.

“He then pulled off to the side of the road and called emergency services,” he said.
Mabaso said the Mercedes Benz hatchback had completely burned down when firefighters put out the fire.

No one sustained injuries.

He said traffic was affected for some time while the scene was being cleared.
“Police had to divert traffic to the side of the road,” he said.
The scene had now been cleared and traffic was flowing again.
