Ten people were arrested after they tried to break into a factory in Ga-Rankuwa, police said.
According to a statement, the arrest was made on Thursday night thanks to a tip off from locals.
“Police officers received a tip off, informing them of a possible break-in at a factory in zone 15,” spokesperson Captain Mathews Nkoadi said.

“We immediately sent officers to the scene to investigate.”
He said the officers caught the criminals red-handed while they were breaking into the factory.
The criminals, aged between 23-and-32-year-old, were arrested.

Nkoadi said the police also recovered copper cables, aluminium pumps and tools to the value of about R50 000.
“All suspects were charged with being in the possession of suspected stolen equipment,” he said.
They will appear in the Pretoria Magistrate’s court soon.

The station commander Brigadier Junior Lehabe-Metsi not only thanked the police officers for their hard work, but also the residents for the tip off.

“They did not turn a blind eye to crime,” he said.
