Pretoria East locals came together at the stylish Summit Grill and Sky Bar in Menlyn to celebrate the official unveiling of “The Horses”, as part of the Rebirth project, a powerful go-green initiative embarked on by Summit Place with the Makers Foundation.

Summit Place investors commissioned the Makers Foundation in collaboration with the Railways Café, to create a set of horse sculptures entirely from recycled material by artists Chanjerai Mutasa and Charles Khoza, assisted by Blessings Mussa and overseen by the project manager and CEO of the Makers Foundation, Tania Bryant.

The Makers Foundation, responsible for the creative production process of this prestigious project, supports pioneers who work hard to establish a greener, more socially-inclusive, and more creative society through art and recycling projects.

The Makers Foundation is driven by collaborative creativity, providing opportunities to creatives from all walks of life. Material for this masterpiece was collected from 60 different informal recyclers and began in February 2019.

“We’ve reached a new summit of environmentalism with this majestic creation, and with it, we will remind Pretoria – and the rest of our country – how powerful sustainability can be when it is met with creativity, enthusiasm and commitment.” – Summit Place Investors.
