VIDEO: Sewage stench at Centurion school a headache for many

Valhalla residents are fed up with a constant stench in the area because of sewage flowing from the Valhalla Primary School grounds.
DA ward councillor Ina Strijdom said the problem has been addressed with the school “numerous” times before.
“After many complaints, the school opted to get a private plumber to resolve the problem. This was three months ago – and we’re still nowhere closer to a solution,” she said.

“This is an issue for the department of public works and infrastructure.”
Resident Marius de Beer said he was worried about the well-being of small children who have to walk and play in the sewage and stench.
“This has been an issue for a while now,” he said.
“I am in the maintenance business and have offered to provide the school with the contact details of plumbers to help them out. Nothing has come of this. The sewage water has flowed onto the sidewalk, but you can clearly see it’s flowing all around the classrooms by now.
“Apart from the horrible smell, we are really concerned that nothing is being done and the problem is possibly getting bigger,” he said.
Valhalla Primary School has declined to comment on the matter.
