20 learners injured as ceiling collapses at north school
The learners were treated on the scene before being transported to a nearby clinic.
About 20 learners were injured when part of the ceiling at a primary school in Hammanskraal collapsed on Thursday afternoon.
“The Grade 6 learners were treated on the scene by paramedics before they were taken to a nearby clinic,” Gauteng education department spokesperson Steve Mabona said.
According to Mabona, the Kgomba Primary School learners did not sustain serious injuries.
“None of the learners were admitted to hospital.”
He explained the ceiling was being held in place by nails when it collapsed adding that it appeared not to be stable.
