Two nabbed for Eersterust business robbery

The suspects allegedly assaulted the owner and took biscuits and chips before fleeing.

Two men, aged 25 and 34, were arrested in Eersterust on Monday following a robbery in the area.

A tuck shop in Swartberg Street was robbed in the afternoon, said police spokesperson Sergeant Sam Shibambo.

“It is alleged that the two suspects accosted the owner in front of his customers and told him that they were in the shop to ‘collect’,” Shibambo said.

“One of the customers told the shop owner to close the shop but it was too late.”

Shibambo said the suspects allegedly assaulted the owner and took biscuits and chips before fleeing.

“The police were alerted and the full description of the suspects was also given,” he said.

“Six hours later, the police caught up with the suspects and arrested them.”

He said the duo will appear in the Pretoria magistrate’s court soon on charges of business robbery.
