West couple donates R10k worth of food to 60 less fortunate families
They have raised funds out of their own pocket and decided to buy food worth over R10 000.
Last week, a Pretoria couple donated food worth more than R10 000 to 60 less fortunate families in Hercules, west of Pretoria.
Juanita Swart and her husband Jaco raised the funds out of their own pocket.
“We started with R10 000, but knew the need was more than that.
“I challenge all other business owners in the area to help the less fortunate families with food during the lockdown,” she said.
According to the Swart family, not only have they purchased the food parcels, but have gathered help from a security company Cinto Guard Security.
“We did not choose the family households. We asked for assistance from Cinto Guard Security with the distribution of the parcels.”

Since the start of the lockdown period, many organisations jumped in to assist the homeless and less fortunate people living in the area.
Malusi Youth Development Organisation (Mydo) operates within the Gomorrah informal settlement and “currently helping 250 families with food”.
Mydo also provided households with soap and other hygiene products.
Angels In Need chairperson Johan Cloete said that do not only focus on informal settlements during the lockdown, but on people less fortunate in general.
“Our aim is to try and give food to the less-privileged families that are struggling to keep themselves fed.”
Cinto Guard, along with the Hercules police, also joined hands to help the homeless living in the area.
Since the start of their initiative last week Monday, many people have joined their cause.
