Teen assaulted by unknown man at Moot petrol station
“He charged towards me and as I was trying to get away, he hit me on the back and later followed me into the shop.

A 17-year-old boy was assaulted by an unknown man at a filling station in East Lynne on Thursday evening.
The boy, who cannot be named as he is a minor, said he was at the station to withdraw money when while at the ATM the man behind him grew impatient.
“I was sent to go and buy electricity, but before that I had to withdraw some money at the ATM,” he said.
“Because I had walked through a bush, I had thorns in my socks, while I was busy with the transaction I put my foot on a lever to remove the thorns.”
The boy from Lindo Park said the man then asked in Afrikaans: “Dink jy die is jou pa se ATM?”
“I said ‘No’ and told him I was busy with a transaction,” said the boy.
“When my transaction was completed I walked away.”
The boy said while he was walking, the man commanded him to return as he was still talking to him, but he continued walking.
“He then charged towards me and as I was trying to get away, he slapped me on the back.”
The assault did not stop. The boy was followed inside the station’s store where he was purchasing electricity.
He said the man started assaulting him until he ran away leaving behind his change and his hat.
“I am traumatised, but I am coping,” the boy said.
The mother of the boy, who also cannot be named to protect his identity, said she was furious that a man would be so violent towards a young boy.
She said her son was a matric learner and was now experiencing medical issues as he had sustained injuries to his nose and could not study as a result.
“He has a bleeding nose and a splitting headache and we are taking him to see a doctor,” she said.
“He has been trying to do some studying, but he is struggling.
“My child was in such shock that he left his hat that fell off during the incident.”
She said the family had reported the matter to the police and were in the process of opening a case of assault.
The family were calling on anyone who could help identify the man.
Police spokesperson Captain Koba Brits said once police received the report, they would conduct the necessary investigations.
