Tshwane needs contract healthcare professionals

The professionals will be assisting the metro on a contract basis until 30 June.

Tshwane metro is in search of extra healthcare professionals to assist them.

The healthcare professionals are encouraged to apply for these positions available; auxiliary nurses (24), community health nurses (54), staff nurses (24), environmental health practitioners (14) and post-basic pharmacist assistants (24).

Closing date for applications is on 8 May at 15:00.

  • AUXILIARY NURSES (24 POSTS)

The City of Tshwane needs to increase its nursing staff during the Covid-19 pandemic by contracting auxiliary nurses to render the services listed in its primary healthcare (PHC) clinics.

Primary functions to be performed daily from Monday to Friday.

The auxiliary nurse will be responsible for rendering the following basic, functional PHC services within the following statutory scope of practice parameters and manage all aspects of delegated nursing care.

Remuneration: R12 000 per month.

  • COMMUNITY HEALTH NURSE (54 POSTS)

The City of Tshwane needs to increase its nursing staff during the coronavirus pandemic by contracting community health nurses to render the services listed here in one of its PHC clinics.

Primary functions to be performed daily, from Monday to Friday.

The community health nurse will be responsible for rendering basic, functional PHC services that are part of a PHC package that was defined after detailed consultations with national experts and provincial staff.

Remuneration: R27 000 per month.

The community health nurses will be contracted through a City of Tshwane contract.   •  STAFF NURSE (24 POSTS)  

The City of Tshwane wants to improve and expand access to healthcare services by contracting staff nurses to render the following services to the community.

Primary functions to be performed daily, from Monday to Friday.

The staff nurse will be responsible for rendering basic, functional PHC services within the following statutory scope of practice parameters.

Remuneration: R18 000 per month.

  • ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH PRACTITIONERS (14 CONTRACT POSITIONS)  

Primary function to be performed for eight hours per day from Monday to Friday.

Ensure the implementation of an environmental health service according to policy and procedural directives, including other duties.

Remuneration: R27 000 per month.

The environmental health practitioners will be contracted through a City of Tshwane contract.

  • BASIC PHARMACIST ASSISTANTS (24 POSITIONS)     

The City of Tshwane renders comprehensive PHC services at its clinics. The service requires medicines to be available and to be dispensed to patients as prescribed by authorised clinicians. These requirements can be achieved by the employment of post basic pharmacist assistants.

This initiative is in support of the National Health Insurance (NHl) which aims to improve access to high-quality public sector healthcare services.

The post basic pharmacist assistant will be expected to work under indirect supervision and perform the duties within the scope of practice.

Remuneration: R127 per hour.

The post basic pharmacist assistants will be contracted through a City of Tshwane contract.
