Tshwane bus services closes due to Covid-19 case
Affected bus depots and buses would be disinfected during the suspension period to combat the risk of a further spread of the virus.
The Tshwane metro has temporarily suspended its bus service (TBS) and closed bus depots on Friday until further notice, following a reported positive Covid-19 case.
Affected bus depots and buses would be disinfected during the suspension period to combat the risk of a further spread of the virus, said metro spokesperson Selby Bokaba.
“The depots will be reopened and operations will resume as soon as the process has been completed,” he said.
Bokaba said the date for this would be announced later.
During the disinfection, all employees housed at the TBS depots were encouraged to stay at home.
Tshwane head administrator Mpho Nawa apologised to commuters for the inconvenience caused by the suspension of operations.
He said the suspension of services was necessary to protect the health and safety of both staff members and the public.
“We acknowledge our commuters will be adversely affected by the suspension of operations, but this was a necessary move.”
