Man’s body found by side of Centurion road
Police confirmed a murder docket was opened for investigation.
Police are investigating after the body of a man, who was shot, was found by the side of Hendrik Verwoerd Road in Centurion on Thursday evening.
The body was discovered by the emergency services personnel.
“Upon arrival, it was found that the person was fatally shot,” said Community Emergency Response Team (Cert-SA) spokesperson Ruan Heyns.
He was declared dead at the scene.
The man, believed to have been in his 20s, was discovered near the Mall@Reds.
“We did not find any ID on him,” he said.
Although circumstances surrounding the incident remained unclear, Heyns said those who heard the shots said they were fired at around 18:30.
Heyns thanked Monitor Net, Copwatch, the police and the metro’s emergency service department for their assistance at the scene.
Police spokesperson Constable Mandlakayise Zwane confirmed a murder docket was opened for investigation.
“We’re appealing to community members who may have information or knowledge about this incident to call 08600-10111 or call the nearest police station,” he said.
