600 sanitary towels donated to North school
“We can't help everyone but everyone can help someone, community members should normalize helping and uplifting each other”
A local foundation, based in Hammanskraal, recently donated 600 sanitary towels to Bokamoso high school.
Dineo Foundation was initiated in 2016.
Dineo Baloyi established the non-profit organisation to identify and reach out to those who are in need and help them.
She said the main focus of the organisation was to help young girls and boys at school, to uplift them and give them extra skills.
“The foundation emphasises the importance of being there for your child, not only financially, but also to support them and their dreams,” she said.
“We went to donate sanitary towels to the schools as we realised the lockdown affected many people and it might be difficult for most learners to afford sanitary towels.”
She said they wanted to help keep girls in school during struggling times.
“Many schools benefited from our foundation as we donated sanitary towels to almost six schools since the year started,” said Baloyi.
With the help from philanthropist George Matjila, who gathered 300 sanitary towels, the foundation reached their target of sanitary towels to be donated.

The foundation did not only donate sanitary towels during the pandemic they also donated food parcels to parts of the community in the north as well.
“Our foundation managed to donate food parcels to 10 families and also helped with electricity vouchers,” said Baloyi.
Baloyi said for the past years the foundation helped most of the learners to apply and register for university and college.
“For the past year we have been working very closely with children in schools, we led the read and write programme where most learners were taught how to improve their reading and writing skills,” she said.
She said Dineo foundation encourages people to help each other and build one another.
“We can’t help everyone but everyone can help someone, community members should see helping and uplifting each other as a normalcy,” said Baloyi.
