Centurion man caught with stolen truck batteries

When the trio spotted the police, they started running and authorities gave chase on foot.

A 38-year-year old man was caught and arrested with stolen truck batteries in the early hours on Thursday in Erasmia. The arrest was made by Erasmia police together with Scorpion Risk, said Erasmia police spokesperson Constable Tumisang Moloto.

“Authorities were on routine patrols in the area when they came across three suspicious-looking men along Main Street in Laezonia. When the trio spotted the police, they started running and authorities gave chase on foot,” he said.

Moloto said one suspect was arrested and two of his accomplices managed to escape. Following the arrest, police recovered two truck batteries valued at R8 000, he said. A case of possession of suspected stolen property was opened at the Erasmia police station.

Police are still on the hunt for two other suspects.
