Gauteng health MEC Bandile Masuku said the province was under a lot of pressure and more beds were needed.

Patients were turned away from Lotus Gardens clinic as it was temporarily closed on Tuesday afternoon, after a staff member tested positive for Covid-19.

Tshwane metro administrator Lebogang Mahaye said counselling and support would be provided to affected staff members.

“The building will undergo decontamination and afterwards the clinic will resume its daily services,” said Mahaye.

“The metro will intensify its efforts to contain the spread of the virus not only at the workplace but throughout the entire city.”
