Man falls to death trying to avoid fire in CBD

A man fell to his death while trying to escape a building fire in the Pretoria CBD on Friday.
The incident took place on Maltzan Street at around 11:46, according to Netcare 911 spokesperson Shawn Herbst.
“Reports from the scene are that an adult male fell from the fifth floor of a block of flats while trying to escape a building fire,” he said.
“When medics arrived, they found the man in a critical condition.”
Herbst said the patient was resuscitated at the scene by an emergency care practitioner; however, his condition rapidly deteriorated and he was declared dead.
