The latest winner of the best sidewalk competition in Capital Park was announced this week.
For the month of July, Ana Maria and Domingos Pinho of Flowers Street, have been crowned the sidewalk winners.
“We feel very proud that we were announced as the winners this month,” Ana Maria told Rekord.
The trophy was handed over on Monday morning, by real estate agent Donne-Li Johnson of Real One Real Estate, who also operates in the area.
Ana Maria said they have been living in Capital Park for the last 40 years.
“We love the community very much and feel that initiatives like this are needed in every community,” she said.
“If each person just cleans the area around their yard, it will already make a huge difference.”
She said it was important for her to keep the area clean.
Johnson said the competition was halted due to the national lockdown levels 5 and 4, but can now continue at level 3.

Ana Maria urged residents to participate in the competition and keep their area clean.
Real One Real Estate joined the competition shortly after it was launched in May 2018.
Johnson hands over the winner’s trophy each month.
Precautions were in place during a handover with social distance observed and hand sanitiser was used.
“I drive through the suburb and look for properties which stand out,” Johnson said.
“I know the area well, since I live here as well, and it’s a pleasure for me to do so.”
The sidewalk of the month competition was established by the Capital Park Residents and Ratepayers Association.
