An alleged perpetrator of gender-based violence was arrested in Temba, north of Pretoria, on Friday afternoon.
“On 10 September at about 19:00 the suspect allegedly fatally stabbed his ex-girlfriend with a knife in an alleged rage of jealousy,” police spokesperson Kay Makhubele said.
“The investigation led the team to the suspect’s hideout in Leboneng, where the 30-year-old was arrested on Friday afternoon, 11 September.”
The man’s girlfriend was understood to have been 23-years-old.
Provincial police commissioner Lieutenant General Elias Mawela, meanwhile, welcomed the arrest and commended the investigating team who “went all out” as police reportedly continued to prioritise the investigation of crimes committed against women, children and vulnerable people.
The man was expected to appear in the Temba magistrate’s court on Monday, 14 September.
