Centurion guard critical following shooting
The attackers robbed him of his firearm, before fleeing to the nearby informal settlement.
A security guard is in a critical condition after he was shot multiple times in the early hours of Thursday.
Owner of Scorpion Risk Services Riaan Erasmus said the shooting happened at the Mooiplaas dumping site in Centurion.
“The (Scorpion Risk Services) guard was on patrol when four men, armed with firearms ambushed him and shot him four times. He sustained bullet wounds in his back, upper body and arm.
The attackers robbed him of his firearm, before fleeing to the nearby informal settlement,” he said in a statement.

Erasmus said the wounded guard was assisted on scene by senior reaction officers, whilst waiting for medical personnel to arrive.
The critically wounded victim was airlifted and transported to Milpark Hospital. Erasmus described the attack as “cowardly” and has vowed to find the perpetrators.
He also expressed his gratitude to JP le Roux of MonitorNet, who assisted with arranging medical services. “Scorpion Risk Services will pay a reward of R10 000 for information that will lead to the recovery of the firearm, the arrest and the successful prosecution of the suspects,” Erasmus said.
Erasmia police said authorities would investigate circumstances surrounding the incident.
