Trio nabbed for burglary in Centurion

Three people were arrested for house burglary in Pierre van Ryneveld, Centurion, on Thursday morning.
The suspects, two females and a male were spotted by the public lifting and forcing open the electric gate to one of the security complexes in the area, said Lyttelton police spokesperson Captain Dave Miller.
He said the CPF’s joint operations centre (JOC) were immediately informed.
“The JOC then activated all the security companies. A detailed description of the suspects was given to all activated personnel,” Miller said.

While that was happening, the trio managed to gain entry to the unit and made off with the stolen loot.
While patrolling the area, one of the security companies spotted a male fitting the description given earlier. The suspect was attempting to jump into a getaway vehicle, however, the vehicle speed off,”
Miller said the suspect was then approached and apprehended.
“He was searched and property taken from the unit was found inside his pants.”
Shortly, two female suspects were seen making their escape through the open field behind Kirkness Avenue, Miller said.

“The search team then made their way to the open field and began to look for the suspects, some of the stolen property was found hidden in the bushes,” he added.
Miller said the women were later spotted by a patrolling security company car.
“When he approached them, they again tried to run but fortunately a member of the community managed to help apprehend the suspects.”

The recovered property was positively identified as belonging to the owner of the unit that was broken into. It was handed over to the police, Miller said.
“We would like to thank each and every person involved in this incident. This is a perfect example of how important it is to get actively involved in your local CPF. It is only by working together that we will restrict the ability of the criminal elements to freely roam the streets of our communities,” Miller added.
The three suspects will face charges relating to possession of suspected stolen property, as well as housebreaking at the Pretoria magistrate’s court.
