Man critically injured in east accident
Paramedics said the man sustained injuries to his spine after the bakkie he was travelling in collided with a small truck.
A man sustained critical injuries after he was involved in a road accident on the N1 north, on Thursday morning.
The bakkie he was traveling in collided with a truck before Rigel Avenue.
VEMRU paramedics spokesperson Casper Visser said paramedics were called to the scene at 10:37.
“We found a man, believed to be in his 40s, who sustained injuries to his spine. Some of the vertebrae in his neck have moved too,” Visser said.
“No other people were injured.”
The accident left all lanes of the N1 closed affecting traffic in the area.
The man was stabilsed on the scene before being airlifted to Milpark hospital.
