A man was shot and wounded when a heated argument got out of hand in Laudium, police said.
Spokesperson Simon Chokoe said the suspect, in his 40s, reportedly wounded the man in the upper body.
Chokoe said he was arrested on a charge of attempted murder.
“The man who was shot was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment,” he said.

In another incident, Chokoe said two men, aged 30 and 42, were arrested for possession of suspected drugs in Umber Street.
“Police were performing their normal stop-and-search duties around Laudium when the duo were seen, stopped and searched,” he said.
The two were reportedly found in possession of nyaope and a drug known as “rock”.
Station commander Lieutenant-Colonel Margaret Nkwane, meanwhile, expressed excitement at the “good work” members carried out under the leadership of acting branch commander Sergeant Sarah Ndora.
Nkwane also issued a warning to criminals in the area, saying criminals would no longer roam freely as police were “squeezing crime out of the community”.
