North girl excels in debating at primary school
'Zené enjoys talking about curiosity among children in her speeches, something that comes naturally to her, as she is a curious little girl herself.'
A grade 3 Laerskool Danie Malan learner is taking the meaning of “talkative” to whole new levels.
Multi-award winning Zené Swart boasts with an impressive collection of certificates, medals and accolades for her impeccable talent of debating at school.

“Look, she’s talkative, she likes to question things and to debate various topics. She has so much confidence, it wasn’t long until we realised she’s got a talent for this,” said Annelize Swart, Zené’s mother.

Zené enjoys talking about curiosity among children in her speeches, something that comes naturally to her, as she is a curious little girl herself.
When she’s not challenging others in her debate class, she enjoys taking part in her dance class.

“She loves dancing as well, she does dance classes at Revival Dance Ministry at RCC Montana at the moment and she also enjoys contact sports like hockey. My child is quite competitive,” Annelize explained.
Zené dreams of one day becoming a teacher, as she really enjoys spending time at school, learning and challenging others in her classes.

“Writing her speeches can be tough. We try to keep to her interests when it comes to speech themes. We have someone who helps her write her speeches and it seems she achieves better marks when she really enjoys the topic she’s talking about.
“Through various competitions, Zené has represented the school at all levels. We are so proud of Zené, she received a trophy for learner of the month in November 2020 for her achievements in debating.”
