Metro cop killed in line of duty

The officer was stopping a vehicle, just before Midrand, when he was knocked down.

A Tshwane metro police department (TMPD) officer was killed in the line of duty on Saturday.
He was knocked down while trying to stop a car.
“The member was on duty around 10:30 on the corner of D55 and Summit Road, just before Midrand. He was stopping a vehicle when he was hit by a minibus which was driving behind the vehicle that was stopped,” metro police  spokesperson Senior Superintendent Isaac Mahamba said.
The officer died on the scene.
“A case of culpable homicide has been opened and will be investigated by the SAPS,” Mahamba said.
He said the driver of the minibus was arrested and would appear in court soon.
“TMPD would like to send heartfelt condolences to his family, friends and colleagues. May his soul rest in peace,” Mahamba said.
